Lionesses celebrate Euros win with epic homecoming parade

  • The England Women’s football team, the Lionesses, celebrated their European Championships victory with thousands of fans outside Buckingham Palace.
  • The team paraded along The Mall on Tuesday, following their penalty shootout win against Spain in the Euros final in Basel, Switzerland.
  • Manager Sarina Wiegman and captain Leah Williamson addressed the cheering crowds, with Williamson expressing her emotion at the overwhelming support.
  • Chloe Kelly, who scored the winning penalty, said “it’s so f****** special” while Alessia Russo, who scored the equaliser, described the celebrations as “unreal” and “surreal”.
  • Manager Sarina Wiegman danced alongside afrobeat star Burna Boy on stage before captain Leah Williamson lifted the trophy in the air to huge cheers.
