Lionel Messi told 'you know where the door is' in row at Barcelona

Lionel Messi was allegedly told 'If you don't like what I said, you know where the door is!' in a row with former Barcelona boss Quique Setien.

Setien was sacked by Barcelona in the summer following a poor season in which Real Madrid won La Liga and the Catalan giants were thumped 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Messi and co. were at odds with Setien over the course of the season, with the Argentine unhappy with the 61-year-old's tactics.

Barcelona drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo in June, which saw Real Madrid pull ahead of them in the title race, and subsequently win a first title since 2017.

Messi believed Barcelona were regressing under Setien, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner questioned his manager's tactics.

Messi is alleged to have urged Setien to listen to the experienced heads in the dressing room who have won more than him, following the Celta Vigo defeat.

Setien is said to have responded to Messi: "If you don't like what I said, you know where the door is," prompting the Argentine to laugh.

Messi attempted to leave Barcelona this summer, pointing towards a clause in his contract which would allow him to walk away on a free.

Club president Josep Bartomeu disputed the clause, telling potential suitors that they would have to pay Messi's £600million buyout clause if they wanted to sign him.

Messi opted against taking Barcelona to court, and has remained at the club this season, although his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Bartomeu and the Barcelona board, meanwhile, resigned from their posts following a vote of no confidence.
