Lionel Messi suffers injury blow ahead of Manchester United vs Barcelona fixture

Lionel Messi has been ruled out of Argentina's next game with a groin injury he picked up against Venezuela.

The Barcelona man is in incredible form at the moment and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will have to come up with a plan to stop him as they face the La Liga giants in the quarter final of the Champions League.

Messi's injury means he is a big doubt for Argentina's next game against Morocco on Tuesday night, Barcelona confirmed.

United's first leg against Barcelona is at Old Trafford on April 10 and Barcelona will be hoping his injury his injury is not serious and that he can recover in time for that game.

Messi played the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 defeat against Venezuela at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid on Friday night.

Solskjaer has his own injury issues to contend with before the games against Barcelona in two weeks time after five players were sent back from international duty with injuries.

Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw both withdrew from England duty while Romelu Lukaku was sent back from the Belgium camp with an injured foot.

Nemanja Matic and Anthony Martial also withdrew from the Serbian and French squads respectively.
