Lionel Messi 'sick of being fed up' as Barcelona inside man backs up Man City's January transfer belief

Barcelona icon Lionel Messi is at the end of his tether as Manchester City plot a stunning early transfer arrival - according to a report.

The 33-year-old was met by reporters on his return from international duty with Argentina as a fresh storm is set to engulf the Nou Camp.

Messi snapped back that he is "tired of always being the problem" after claims from Antoine Griezmann's former agent about the power he holds over others with the Barcelona dressing room.

Many onlookers commented on how exasperated he looked and speculation over an early exit has only increased with mentor Pep Guardiola penning a new deal at the Etihad.

Messi is a free agent next summer but speculation is rife a £60m deal could be agreed between Barcelona and Manchester City when the window opens.

And a potential early exit has only received further traction with with respected journalist and Barca insisder Lluis Mascaro providing insight into the superstar's mindset.

Writing in Sport, the reporter said: "Messi is sick of being fed up. Tired of the harassment and demolition of certain media there and here. Tired of controversy and persecution. Tired of half truths, lies, and manipulations. Fed up with each other.

"Fed up with everything that surrounds football but that has nothing to do with football. And, above all, tired of feeling singled out."

Messi has been below his best this season but has still netted six goals in 10 games under Ronald Koeman.
