Lionel Messi sends Liverpool fans Luis Suarez reminder as Kylian Mbappe comparison made

The arrival of Lionel Messi at PSG has sparked a debate among football fans across the world, with Luis Suarez right at the centre.

Arriving in Paris to play alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the French side’s front three has already been declared the best in the world, despite having yet to play a game together.

Messi joining PSG means the Argentine has been reunited with Neymar, with whom he won his most recent Champions League title with Barcelona in 2015.

Luis Suarez completed the Spanish side’s then-famed ‘MSN’ trio, with comparisons now being made between the former Liverpool striker and Mbappe as to which strikeforce is better.

Having lit up Anfield with his performances throughout his three-and-a-half years at the club, Reds fans leapt to defend the Uruguayan on social media.

Scoring 31 goals in 33 Premier League games in his final season with Liverpool, Suarez is truly one of the greatest strikers of his generation.

Though unable to guide Brendan Rodgers’ side to the league title in 2014, he helped Luis Enrique’s Barca side to a treble in his first season at the Nou Camp.

The 34-year-old ranks third in the Catalan club’s all-time top scorer list, having scored 198 goals in his six-year spell.

Somewhat cast aside by Barcelona last summer, Suarez signed for Atletico Madrid and guided the club to an unlikely La Liga title.

Comparisons with other players will always be subjective. At 22-years-old, the World Cup-winning Mbappe has already had a phenomenal career.

There is also a fair argument that the Frenchman may have a higher ceiling than Suarez, with it being unlikely that he is already in his prime at such a tender age.

However, to suggest that a frontline which hasn’t played a game together is better than the ‘MSN’ that made Barca the envy of the world, is to overlook the magic that Liverpool’s former number 7 had in his boots.

He may be getting overlooked as football fans obsess over the makeup of PSG’s galacticos-style lineup - but Reds fans know the ability that Luis Suarez possessed was special.
