Lionel Messi: Quique Setien provides injury update on Barcelona superstar after heavy Kalidou Koulibaly challenge

Quique Setien insists there “shouldn’t be a problem” with Lionel Messi after an injury concern in Barcelona’s victory over Napoli.

The Blaugrana advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory at the Nou Camp, triumphing 4-2 on aggregate.

At 2-0 to the hosts, Kalidou Koulibaly caught the Argentine with a heavy challenge while attempting to clear the ball inside the box.

And while Messi was unable to take the penalty while receiving treatment, allowing Luis Suarez to convert, Setien has now moved to allay any fears.

He said: ”Messi? He had some pain, but there shouldn’t be a problem.

“He was fine. We will analyse it, but there won’t be a problem.”

Setien’s attention will now turn to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals in Lisbon on Friday in a game he has labelled “complicated”.

“The game against Bayern will be complicated, but we are also a great team,” Setien added.

“The team has been good and we deserved the victory. We have overcome the opening minutes and in the second half Napoli didn’t create much danger.

“The truth is that Napoli are one of the best Italian teams. We knew how to react to their start and then we had a good first half.

“They have had more prominence during the second half.”
