Lionel Messi has been confirmed as a new Paris Saint-Germain player and will give a press conference today at 11am in Paris (10am BST). Messi’s two-year contract, with an option for a third, was signed yesterday after a medical in Paris and he has been handed the No30 shirt.
Manchester United are to close to announcing the signing of Raphael Varane, the French international defender from Real Madrid. The 28-year-old has been on United’s radar for several years and is now expected to sign and form a partnership with captain Harry Maguire. He underwent a medical yesterday and is expected to be confirmed as new player today.
Romelu Lukaku could also be confirmed today as Chelsea close in on the Inter Milan striker, who completed a medical in Milan earlier this week. The Blues are currently in Belfast to take on Villarreal in the Uefa Super Cup final tonight. Tottenham are still hoping to retain Harry Kane, too, with the England striker a target for Manchester City. The Premier League champions unveiled Jack Grealish at the Etihad Stadium on Monday, having splashed out £100m to bring him from Aston Villa.
