Lionel Messi next club odds: Will Barcelona star seek a transfer after Champions League humiliation?

Barcelona were left utterly humiliated in Lisbon thanks to Bayern Munich - and the 8-2 Champions League result could have huge repercussions beyond the damning result.

With four goals in the first half-hour and four more in the last half hour, Bayern overpowered a listless Barca side as even Lionel Messi couldn't stop the brilliant Bavarians.

Thomas Muller scored twice and Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry added on in Bayern's stunning start to the standout quarter-final between the only past champions left in the last eight.

Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and Philippe Coutinho (twice) piled on Barcelona's misery in the second half in a result which is sure to cost Quique Setien his job.

Barcelona got on the board with an own-goal by David Alaba in the first half and a goal by Luis Suarez in the second, but Messi's team was never in contention.

Messi held key talks about his future at Barca earlier this season before agreeing to stay, but this result may well lead the Argentine attacker to reconsider his Camp Nou future.

And if reports are to believed, the cogs are already in motion.

According to Esporte Interativo, the 33-year-old has informed Barcelona he wants to leave the club immediately, rather than wait until the expiration of his contract next year.

The report claims Messi has become more isolated than ever at the club, and has grown increasingly frustrated by their lack of planning.
