Lionel Messi makes prediction about Man City youngster Phil Foden

Lionel Messi says Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden 'has huge talent' as he named the midfielder in his 15 youth players on the rise.

Messi, widely considered the best player in the world, was naming his 15 "youth on the rise" players for Topps Champions League cards, where he included four English players - including Foden.

The Barcelona forward said Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is "a full-back who is impressive going forward, it is the future," while Chelsea's Mason Mount "has the potential to be one of the best."

Messi, 32, also named former City youngster Jadon Sancho, saying the Borussia Dortmund winger's "ability to dribble past defenders is impressive."

On Foden, Messi predicted big things for the 19-year-old, saying: "He will do amazing things in the game. He has huge talent."

The praise comes after Foden, who already has eight major trophies to his name, is the closest rival to Messi for chances created in the Champions League this season. Messi leads the way with seven chances, with Foden created six in less than half of the playing time.

In Messi's list of players for the future, he also named Christian Pulisic, Luka Jovic, Kai Havertz, Eder Militao, Frenkie de Jong, Joao Felix, Kylian Mbappe, Joshua Kimmich, Benjamin Pavard, Ousmane Dembele, and reported City target Houssem Aouar.
