Luis Suarez has opened up on his painful Barcelona exit and the reaction of his close friend Lionel Messi.
The Uruguayan striker signed for Atletico Madrid last month after being told he was no longer part of Barca's plans.
And the nature of his departure saw the Argentine attacker hit out at the club's board.
"I didn't surprise me because I know him so well," Suarez said after scoring in Uruguay's 2-1 win over Chile on Thursday. "He knew the pain I was feeling."
"We are grown-up. I had been at Barcelona for six years and there were other ways they could have spoken to me.

"That annoyed him as well. And I don't see him as Leo Messi, as everyone else does... I see him as a friend, as a team-mate. And he knows how hard it was for us at that moment.
Despite those feelings, Suarez claims he has accepted it was time to leave Barca and is enjoying his new life in Madrid.
"I feel very happy," he said. "I have to get used to certain football aspects and life outside [the club], but I'm happy. My family are happier too and supporting me.
"You have to accept it when you complete a cycle. There were days when I was crying because of the situation, but now I'm enjoying being valued as a player, feeling loved and experiencing the warmth of a club that has welcomed me wonderfully."
