Lionel Messi is 'from another planet', says Arturo Vidal after Argentine stars in Barcelona win

Lionel Messi is “from another planet”, Barcelona teammate Arturo Vidal has said.

Messi starred with two goals and two assists against Real Valladolid on Tuesday night as the Catalan club won 5-1 at Camp Nou.

The Barcelona captain teed up Vidal with a delicious clipped pass over the top, and Vidal extolled his virtues after the game.

“It makes a difference with Leo giving all his quality. When he’s like this, the team feels it,” Vidal told Movistar Plus.

“We see him every day, but he surprises us every day. Leo is from another planet.

“We are happy, we won and the team felt good. I have no words to talk about Leo. You have to take advantage of it and make the most of him.”

Messi also scored his 50th free kick for club and country during the win.

Barcelona are two points clear of Atletico Madrid and surprise package Granada at the top of La Liga, and have a game in hand over Diego Simeone’s side.

The win over Valladolid was their seventh consecutive victory in all competitions after a somewhat slow start to the season while Messi was sidelined by injury.

“These victories help you, but you have to keep improving,” Vidal commented.

“The game against Slavia (Prague in the Champions League when Barcelona won 2-1 last week) is not what we know how to do. Hopefully it won’t happen to us from now on.”

Barcelona enjoyed a weekend off due to rearrangement of El Clasico, which will now take place on December 18.

They face Levante in La Liga action on Saturday.
