Lionel Messi has 'two demands' that must be met before he'd sign for Man City

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi reportedly has two demands that would need to be met before he'd consider signing for Manchester City.

Quite simply, the Argentine allegedly wants assurances that Pep Guardiola and Sergio Aguero are staying at the Etihad.

Messi played under Guardiola for four seasons at the Camp Nou, where the duo won the Champions League twice and La Liga three times.

Messi is also international team-mates and close friends with Aguero.

And Argentine outlet El Chiringuito, via SportWitness, claims that the pair staying put in Manchester will play a big part in Messi's decision to potentially sign for City.

The publication adds that the Citizens remain at the front of the queue to snap up the six-time Ballon d'Or winner and are 'best placed' to make a transfer happen.

Messi's relationship with Barcelona has been fractious over the past few years, and things came to an explosive head just a few months ago.

The Argentine rocked the club by announcing his intentions to leave and pointed towards a clause in his contract, which he claimed would allow him to walk away on a free.

Then Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu disputed the clause, telling clubs interested in the forward that they'd have to pay his £600million buyout clause if they wanted him.

Messi opted against taking the club he has represented since the age of 12 to court.

And the Argentine has remained at Barcelona this season, although his contract does expire at the end of the campaign.
