Lionel Messi is one of the most recognisable names around football.
The Argentinian has established himself as a legend of the game over the last 16 years at Barcelona.
A goalscoring record of 634 goals in 731 appearances for the Catalan club has caused him to be renowned as one of the greatest players not only of his generation but also in the history of football.
So, it’s perhaps no surprise that the 33-year-old’s desire to leave the club has caused many clubs to take notice.
Chelsea are among one of the clubs to be linked with the player, alongside Manchester City, who are managed by former Barca head coach Pep Guardiola.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News , a move to the Etihad could be possible, although there will be a few obstacles in the way of a summer transfer that could put the club off.
That could, therefore, put Chelsea in the driving seat for any potential move.
And, if past comments are anything to go by, the Argentinian may be keen to link up with one of Chelsea’s young stars.
As part of his partnership with card manufacturers Topps, Mount was included on a ‘youth on the rise’ card along with a comment from Messi himself, where he made a bold prediction for Mount.
‘Having watched him play he has the potential to be one of the best,’ Messi said about the England international.
Mount made his Chelsea breakthrough in the season just gone, making 53 appearances in all competitions.
A move to Stamford Bridge for Messi would only help to speed up Mount’s predicted rise.
