Lionel Messi gives view on potential Liverpool semi after 'spectacular' night

Lionel Messi and Barcelona won't be talking Liverpool lightly in the Champions League semi-finals should they polish Porto off on Wednesday night.

The Reds saw the size of the potential task in front of them as Barca battered Manchester United 4-0 over two legs.

The Argentine great says his team were "spectacular" after getting over an early wobble and they are now big favourites to win a sixth European crown - especially with Juventus and his big rival Ronaldo sent packing in Turin.

But Messi and co know they will be in for a game in the last four, whoever progresses in Portugal.

Liverpool reveal Anfield changes to be made at end of season

"Taking off the first five minutes, where we were cold and a little nervous, I do not know if the result was weird and that made us come out that way," he said to Movistar.

"But then the goals came and we played spectacular football.

"The important thing is that we go to the semi-finals, but I'm happy for the win and for how we did it," he said. "We have the experience of Rome, which in five or ten minutes can complicate the classification or leave us out and we have to be aware of that.

"Liverpool or Porto will be very difficult, but beyond that we played a great game."
