Lionel Messi confirms approaches from several clubs before PSG transfer agreement

Lionel Messi has revealed he had 'lots of calls' from interested clubs after his Barcelona exit was officially announced.

The Argentine legend was due to sign a new deal at the club, but after discussions with La Liga Barca were forced to withdraw the contract offer after going well over their wage limit.

Messi was set to stay and even offered to take a 50 per cent pay cut to help, but La Liga refused to budge on their rules and Messi has been forced to leave the club he joined as a 13-year-old.

Reports suggest a move to Paris Saint-Germain is as good as done, with Messi set to sign a two-year deal in France with the option of a third but the 34-year-old revealed that a move to France was just 'one possibility' for him this summer and that there were several interested parties who had made contact.

Speaking in his press conference, Messi said;

"I've got nothing confirmed with anybody. I had a lot of calls, a lot of interested clubs. At the moment, nothing is closed, but we are talking about a lot of things."

Reports have since come out of France that Messi will undergo a medical with PSG on Sunday night or Monday morning, although this is yet to be confirmed.
