Mason Mount's late goal to seal Chelsea's 2-0 victory against Real Madrid has helped to prove Lionel Messi right about the Blues midfielder.
Mount and his Man City counterpart Phil Foden both put in starring performances in their respective Champions League semi-finals to help set up an Istanbul final between the two English clubs.
Under Thomas Tuchel, Mount has become undroppable at Chelsea, despite some previously criticising former boss Frank Lampard for placing his trust in the 22-year-old.
Mount netted from close range late on to cap off an impressive performance and secure the Blues' 3-1 aggregate victory over Los Blancos.
It helped Mount prove once again why Barcelona superstar Messi was right about him.
The Argentine was once asked about the best young prospects in European football and he picked out Mount as a player who could go far.
"Having watched him play, he has the potential to be one of the best," Messi said.
Mount's form under Tuchel has gone a long way to proving Messi right in what could be a big year for the young midfielder, with the Euros just around the corner this summer after the Champions League final at the end of this month.
Messi also appears to have chosen well when he namechecked Man City star Phil Foden.
Foden played a key role for City in both legs of their victory over PSG, having previously become just the fourth Englishman to score in both legs of a Champions League quarter-final.
Speaking about Foden, Messi said: "He will do amazing things in the game. He has huge talent."
The clash between Chelsea and City at Istanbul at the end of the month will see plenty of key on-field battles, but perhaps the match-up of Mount against Foden could go a long way to securing the final for one side.
