Lionel Messi claim made, Kai Havertz price set, and other Liverpool transfer rumours rated

Liverpool's business for the mid-season transfer window appears to be done, with Takumi Minamino having already arrived, alongside under-23 forward Joe Hardy.

But the rumour mill is still in full swing as Jurgen Klopp continues to be linked with a signing or two across his side.

And there are some incredibly big names that the Reds are being linked with today, including perhaps the biggest of them all.

Here are today's Liverpool transfer rumours rated.

Lionel Messi claim

Who?

Lionel Messi - no more explanation is needed.

Where?

Football agent Francis Nkwain has made a bold claim about the Argentinean superstar.

What?

Nkwain says that should he ever leave Barcelona - which is perhaps a big if - Liverpool are the only top European club Messi would consider joining.

Via the Daily Star, he said: "[Liverpool] have hit a little sweet spot they can only add to.

"They are the kind of team where, if Messi was to move for one final challenge in a competitive league, Liverpool is that club."

Germany star's valuation

Who?

Kai Havertz, the 20-year-old German international.

Where?

According to SportBild, via Sport Witness, Havertz will cost any potential suiters €130 million, which is around £110 million.

What?

The goalscoring midfielder, who netted 17 times in the Bundesliga last season, has been linked with a move to the Reds on many an occasion.

He clearly has talent so there is no reason to think that the elite clubs around Europe might be taking a look at him, but whether any will be prepared to splash that sort of money on him remains to be seen.

Reds man forces striker out

Who?

Borja Baston of Swansea City, who can't get a game with Rhian Brewster preferred by the Welsh outfit.

Where?

L'Equipe, the French newspaper, via Wales Online, say Baston, the Spanish forward, could move to French side Bordeaux.

What?

Baston, who cost the Swans £15.5 million, reportedly started the season in good form, but has since been out of the side, with Sam Surridge taking his place to begin with, and then Brewster more latterly.

Baston's contract expires at the end of the season, so he could have been forced out for good by the on-loan Reds man.
