Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will get chance to renew their rivalry after Manchester United were drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16.
In a tie packed full of narrative, the fixture will also see Mauricio Pochettino go head-to-head with Ralf Rangnick, who he is among the favourites to replace when the German’s interim spell in charge at Old Trafford comes to an end at the end of the season.
Messi and Ronaldo, considered arguably the greatest players in the game’s history, are the top two scorers in Champions League history and are both targeting more European glory after joining their respective clubs this summer.
Ronaldo won the Champions League with United back in 2008 and went on to lift the prize on a further four occasions with Real Madrid.
Messi, meanwhile, won the trophy four times with Barcelona, but left the Catalan club this summer to join PSG, who continue to search for a first title.
Despite being in the twilight of their respective careers, both men have been crucial for their sides in the group stages so far, both scoring five times in five appearances.
The pair have not met since the group stage of the 2020/21 Champions League, with Ronaldo scoring twice as his Juventus side beat Barcelona 3-0 and the tie next spring could be one of the final times they share a pitch.
