Lion King trailer: Beyoncé voices Nala in new clip from Disney live-action remake

A new trailer for The Lion King, featuring the voice of Beyoncé, has been released.

The singer voices the character Nala in the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic.

Jon Favreau has directed the film, which also features Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

The Lion King is only the latest classic Disney film to be remade, following on from The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Beauty and the Beast.

The official synopsis reads: “Disney’s The Lion King journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolises his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival.

“Scar, Mufasa’s brother – and former heir to the throne – has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.”

The Lion King reaches cinemas on 19 July.
