Linlithgow High Street cordoned off by police at weekend after woman sexually assaulted

A busy West Lothian street was cordoned off at the weekend after a woman was seriously sexually assaulted.

The 29-year-old victim was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning, in an area close to the Old Post Office Bar on Linlithgow High Street.

As reported by our sister title the Daily Record, the area remained taped off by officers throughout much of Sunday. A police van could also be seen parked outside the premises, as investigations were carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in West Lothian are investigating a report that a 29-year-old woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in the High Street area of Linlithgow in the early hours of Sunday, 23 February. Enquiries are ongoing."
