Links Road crash: 21-year-old man dies after accident between motorbike and car in East Lothian

A 21-year-old man has died after his motorbike was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf on a busy East Lothian Road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, on the B1348 Links Road just east of Seton Sands, at 2.20pm yesterday (Saturday).

The motorbike rider was seen to by medics but died while in an ambulance on his way to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed between Links Road and Lyars Road, and remained shut last night, while police worked to establish exactly what had happened.

Officers say that enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and they want anyone with information, or who has dashcam footage of the collision, to get in touch.

Sergeant Fraser Wood said: "Sadly this collision has resulted in the death of the young motorcycle rider and our thoughts and sympathies are with his family at this time.

"We are still working to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident and other motorists who were on the road and witnessed what happened are urged to contact police immediately.

"Likewise anyone with relevant dash-cam footage, or who has any other information of use to our investigation should also get in touch."
