Lingfield Racecourse crash: Car ploughs into people leaving UB40 concert

Three people have been rushed to hospital after a car was driven into pedestrians leaving a UB40 concert at a racecourse.

Surrey Police was called shortly before 11pm on Saturday to reports a car ploughed into people near the Lingfield Park Resort which hosted the concert after the day’s races.

The injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at this stage and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

Chief Inspector Dan Gutierrez said: "We would like to reassure the public that this incident is not believed to be terror-related.

“We know that there were thousands of people in attendance at this event and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam footage of the lead up to the collision to get in contact with us."

Taking to Twitter, Surrey Police said: "Did you witness a collision last night at #Lingfield racecourse?

"Three pedestrians have been taken to hospital after a car drove into a crowd around 11pm.

"Enquiries ongoing & this isn’t believed to be terror related. If you have any info please DM us quoting ref PR/P21165133."
