Lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone celebrates wedding anniversary with billionaire with 32-course dinner at Welsh restaurant

Former lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone has celebrated her first wedding anniversary to billionaire Doug Barrowman - with a 32-course dinner at Wales' best restaurant.

Lady Mone, who made her name with the Ultimo underwear brand, married fellow Glaswegian Mr Barrowman, 56, on November 29 last year at a stunning ceremony in the Isle of Man attended by 90 of their nearest and dearest - with the service watched on Zoom by friends.

The couple had been forced to rearrange her big day three times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Twitter Lady Mone revealed how they marked their paper anniversary a couple of weeks ahead: "Doug and I had the most amazing time away in the beautiful Wales last weekend! What a great way to celebrate our anniversary. Big thanks to the fantastic Chef Gareth Ward at Ynyshir Restaurant for making us the most delicious 32-course meal. Lots of fun and laughter."

Ynyshir is arguably Wales' best restaurant and has been rated 12th in the UK by the Good Food Guide. You can see what it takes to run it here. You can also see our choice for the 50 best restaurants in Wales here. Dinner at Ynyshir costs £300 per person.

Last week Lady Mone revealed that she has decided to quit public speaking to concentrate on her family. She again made the announcement on Twitter.

"I've spoken at some of the world's biggest conferences alongside presidents and get asked when my next speaking appearance will be," wrote mother-of-three Lady Mone.

"I've recently decided to step back and retire from public speaking to focus on my family and new ventures. I have been truly honoured to spend time with some of my biggest inspirations, help and inspire others and travel the world. Public speaking still scares me, but I will miss the feeling of accomplishment and pride that I felt when I walked on those stages."

Lady Mone was made a Tory peer by David Cameron and last month she celebrated her 50th birthday with not one but five parties.

"Whilst I've learned a lot over the years, the one thing I've always known is how to party," she said.

The businesswoman announced her engagement in December 2018, after Mr Barrowman proposed with a stunning eight carat diamond ring at their London home. She split from her ex-husband Michael in 2011 after 19 years of marriage.
