Married At First Sight 'confirms' new stars who'll wed someone they've never met

With Love Island coming to a climax, fans of TV dating shows won't have to wait long for their next fix of on-screen romance.

Married At First Sight UK is set to return to the telly in a revamped style which will give viewers the drama they crave.

And the first names of those to take part are thought to have been confirmed.

According to The Sun, a hunky DJ and a glamour model are the first people to be confirmed for the show.

Joshua Christie, who played rugby sevens for Jamaica and now works as a DJ, and former glamour model-turned-sports presenter Amy Christophers will set out on their quest for love on the show which will run for 20 episodes.

A source told the publication: "Joshua and Amy are incredibly good value and totally threw themselves into the experiment.

“Amy is funny, sassy and always up for a laugh while Joshua has plenty of strong opinions.

“Viewers will be transfixed by them and whether or not it will last the distance."

The show, which returns to E4, has changed its format to fit the same as the Australian version so viewers will be hopeful that it will be just as explosive as its Down Under counterpart.

Previously, UK viewers watched only two couples who only met once. However, in the new series all of the pairs of newlyweds will be housed in the same block of apartments in Brighton.

They will have to attend weekly commitment ceremonies as well as dining together. At this point in the Aussie version, viewers were gobsmacked as couples often clashed and threw drinks at each other.

In some instances the contestants even coupled up with other partners.

The new UK series will feature eight couples who have all been matched by 'science'.

The will be paired based on a computer algorithm's judgement of compatibility so it won't be a case of "opposites attract" in this instance.

The very first time each participant clocks eyes on their partner will be at their actual wedding day. They will then be whisked off on their honeymoon before being housed together on their return.

At the end of the series, viewers will watch as the couples must decide whether or not they remain married or whether they break it off straight away.
