Linfield vs Larne postponed after player tests positive for coronavirus

Saturday's Danske Bank Premiership game between Linfield and Larne has been postponed.

The postponement follows confirmation on Tuesday that a Linfield player tested positive for coronavirus.

The game - which was due to be played at Windsor Park - will be rescheduled for a future date.

NIFL said in a statement: “The Danske Bank Premiership match between Linfield and Larne scheduled for this Saturday (14 March) will be postponed.

"This decision comes after a Linfield player was tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19). No new date for this game has been scheduled.

"Officials from the NI Football League will continue to communicate regularly with clubs and review the ongoing situation alongside the response group set up by the Irish Football Association.”

It is understood Linfield's squad players are being tested for coronavirus as a precaution.

The NI Football League has confirmed that the remaining five Danske Bank Premiership fixtures scheduled for Saturday will proceed as normal.

The Big Two derby between Glentoran and Linfield on Friday night, March 20 remains on at this stage.
