Linfield striker Andy Waterworth enjoys last laugh with Stephen Craigan takedown

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

Or maybe it's on social media.

Andy Waterworth couldn't resist having a cheeky pop at pundit Stephen Craigan after Linfield clinched a memorable double on Tuesday night.

The Blues were crowned champions following their 1-1 draw with Coleraine at the Showgrounds.

The Gibson Cup is staying at Windsor Park, and will be proudly displayed beside the Irish Cup which David Healy's side won last Friday night with a convincing win over Larne in the final.

It wasn't that long ago that former defender Craigan was aiming his own comical dig at Linfield, after his boyhood club Glentoran beat the Blues 1-0 in February courtesy of an injury time goal from Conor McMenamin.

Enjoying the moment, Craigan tweeted: " @Glentoran that's the tweet: “Oh what fun it is to beat the Blues on........"

The tweet was loved by Glens fans, not so much by Linfield's supporters.

But three months on from that derby despair, Linfield have enjoyed the last laugh.

And Waterworth was quick to remind Craigan of the double success.

The striker - who is set to leave the Blues this summer - said: "Morning Stephen. Have a good day" followed by a smiling face and to trophy emojis.

Craigan enjoyed the comeback from Waterworth, replying: "Great stuff Andy we all need a bit of motivation, I appreciate the recognition."

The banter continued with Waterworth joking that the February comment "hurt me coming from you", to which Craigan replied: "I’m sure your medal will help cheer you up!!"
