Linfield squad news ahead of Champions League qualifying mini-tournament

Linfield manager David Healy is set to take an extended squad to Nyon for the club's Champions League qualifying mini-tournament this weekend.

The Blues potentially face two games in the space of four days in Nyon, Switzerland.

They take on Tre Fiori from San Marino on Saturday at the Colovray Sports Centre, and if they win they will play the winners of Drita (Kosovo) and Inter Club d-Escaldes (Andorra) next Tuesday at the same venue.

With a potential quick-fire double-header, boss Healy is hoping to take a bigger squad than usual.

The Blues travel out to Switzerland on Friday ahead of Saturday's opening test.

"We are not allowed to travel out more than 24 hours before the opening game due to Covid-19 safety measures," explained Linfield chairman Roy McGivern.

"It will be very interesting to see how all the clubs and players adapt to the venue and conditions. These are strange times and there are a lot of unknowns.

"We will take a larger squad than usual, because of the potential for two games in quick succession.

"We want to avoid injuries following a very long break from football, so the more options the manager has the better."

Linfield's four new signings are also expected to make the trip.

Navid Nasseri, Conor Papper, Christy Manzinga and Chris Johns have all been registered for Europe.

McGivern added: "We have a full squad to choose from, including the four new signings.

"All of the new players are eligible."
