Linfield recall 6-0 drubbing of Glens with 'Demolition Derby' mug

Linfield have launched a new 'Icons' range of merchandise which includes a coffee mug celebrating a 6-0 drubbing of Big Two rivals Glentoran.

The 'Demolition Derby Ceefax Mug' has gone on sale on the club's superstore.

The mug - priced at £8 - is designed like an old Ceefax page and shows the details of Linfield's 6-0 Setanta Cup win over the Glens on April 3, 2006.

The Blues romped to their win at Windsor Park courtesy of goals from Andy Hunter (pen), Peter Thompson (2), Paul McAreavey (2) and William Murphy.

Glentoran's misery was complete with the sending off of Mark Glendinning.

Linfield say the mug is the first of their 'Icons' range which will go on sale in the coming weeks.

The Blues shared details of the mug on Twitter, including a three-second clip of former UTV presenter Kate Smith reporting on the win back in 2006.

On their online store, the club says: "This ceramic mug recalls the 'Ceefax' report of the sizzling six nil defeat of Glentoran in April 2006 - in what became known as the 'Demolition Derby'.

"The mug has the Ceefax image on both sides so why don't you remind yourself of this great night or better still... remind some of your work colleagues!"
