Linfield plan to release tickets on Friday for next week's Champions League Qualifier at Windsor Park

Linfield have announced they plan to release tickets tomorrow morning (Friday) for next week's Champions League first round qualifying tie against Zalgiris Vilnius.

The Blues say they intend to put the tickets on sale to club members through the online ticketing portal. Remaining tickets will then be made available to supporters who registered their intention to buy season tickets last season.

The decision will be subject to the arrival of more "information on the social distancing requirements".

Considering the Northern Ireland Executive's decision to remove the 500 people cap on outdoor events and gatherings, Linfield are confident they can welcome as many supporters in to Windsor for the game as possible.

With discussions on the matter set to be on the agenda today at the NI Executive, Linfield have appealed to Stormont and the relevant public bodies to work with clubs to ensure the maximum number of fans can safely return to games.

In a club statement Linfield said: "We hope to welcome many of our loyal supporters back to Windsor Park for this important game and this will be possible following the NI Executive’s decision to remove the cap of 500 at outdoor gatherings. The number of spectators permitted to attend will, however, be subject to a detailed risk assessment of each venue and this work is currently progressing.

"Such a risk assessment will be impacted by the social distancing requirements in place and further discussions on this issue are scheduled at the NI Executive meeting on Thursday. Once we have further information on the social distancing requirements, the club plans to put tickets on sale to Members, through the online ticketing portal, from Friday morning. Remaining tickets will then be made available (subject to availability) to supporters who registered their intention to buy Season Tickets last season.

"A further announcement will be made on Friday but we would appeal to the NI Executive and other public bodies to work with clubs to ensure the maximum number of fans can safely return to games."

Linfield fell to a 3-1 defeat to Zalgiris Vilnius in the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round on Tuesday evening.

The Blues responded with a close-range finish from Christy Manzinga in the 54th minute to offer them some hope in the heat of Vilnius.

It might offer them some hope ahead of next Tuesday's return leg at Windsor Park in Belfast.
