Linfield next in Larne's sights as key man Andy Ryan welcomes title chase

Andy Ryan insists Larne will enjoy the decisive final ten games of what could be a historic season for the club.

The Invermen entertain reigning league champions Linfield on Tuesday evening knowing victory will move them nine points clear at the top of the league.

After Ryan's late goal against H&W Welders on Friday night earned Larne a semi-final berth in the Irish Cup the 'Double' is very much on.

The Scottish striker is embracing the hunt for silverware and the pressure that comes with it.

"We want to be at the top of the league and we want to be in the Irish Cup semi-finals," said Ryan.

"It's pressure, but it's pressure we need to enjoy, it's not a negative to be there.

"Obviously teams will be trying to catch us and beat us, but that is something we need to try and stand up to and take on the chin.

"Since I've come here one of the main things is the mindset of the players.

"We got the job done against the Welders so we move on.

"The focus is now on Linfield, we're at home and we will be out to continue our run and hopefully win the game.

"I'm sure there will be another big crowd there and hopefully our fans can get behind us and be our 12th man.

"They were excellent against the Welders and they can be another big help on Tuesday night as well."

Ryan has made a big impression since moving to Inver Park in January.

Friday night's goal at Blanchflower Park made it five in five for the 28-year-old who is clearly loving life on this side of the Irish Sea.

"I've loved it here, that's all down to the lads and the staff," said Ryan.

"They've made me feel welcome from day one which always helps you settle in.

"Before I came I knew it was going to be something completely different.

"I knew it was going to be difficult moving away from my family who are still back home.

"It's a challenge I have taken on though and I'm enjoying it so far.

"You go to places like the Welders on Friday night, a Championship side, but it's competitive. Every single game you play is like that.

"The lads deserve a lot of credit though as sometimes when it's backs against the wall we always seem to find a way and hopefully that continues."
