Linfield fans react to Kyle Lafferty signing and issue early warning

Kyle Lafferty is back at Windsor Park - this time as a Linfield player.

The Blues announced on Wednesday they have signed the 35-year-old Northern Ireland striker until the end of the season.

Lafferty left Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day, with David Healy moving to secure the services of his former international teammate once he became a free agent.

And it will give the champions a significant boost heading into two huge games against title rivals Cliftonville and Glentoran.

Linfield host league leaders Cliftonville on Saturday, before travelling to bitter rivals Glentoran next Tuesday night.

The Glens recently signed another current Northern Ireland international, with Niall McGinn swapping Scotland for East Belfast.

McGinn has hit the ground running in the Irish League, with an impressive seven goals in 14 appearances for his new club.

Linfield fans hope Lafferty can do the same, but have also warned the towering striker to "keep your head" if he features in the next two games.

Chris tweeted: "Very happy, but PLEASE keep the head big Kyle, especially first 2 games. Stuck in...yes...but stay on the pitch."

Andrew replied: "I'd take a 90th minute winner and him sent off for excessive celebration either match TBF."

Wazza added: "Not a bad first 2 games coming up to start off with big man..."

Bravallen tweeted: "A bit of back up for thon Finnish melt disappearing against the bigger teams?"

Glory Days said: "Hope he's as successful as fellow Fermanagh men, Roy Carroll and Mark Stafford Welcome to Windsor."

Jimmy said: "Let's hope he gets plenty off service up front."

Steve suggested a red card could be on its way, tweeting: "Sent off on his debut."
