Linfield confirm coaching change as Michael Gault takes up Rangers role

Linfield have confirmed that former captain Michael Gault has taken over as coach of the club's Rangers team.

Gault returns to Windsor Park to succeed Ryan Prentice who has stepped down due to personal and work-related reasons.

Gault - who won seven league titles during 12 years as a player with the Blues - takes up the role after spending the past 16 months managing Mid Ulster League club Ballymacash Rangers.

"Everyone at Linfield FC would like to place on record our sincere appreciation to Ryan for his significant contribution during his time as coach of Linfield Rangers," Linfield said on their website.

"He leaves Linfield FC with the best wishes of everyone at the club.

"Ryan is being succeeded as coach of Linfield Rangers by former Linfield captain Michael Gault. He is to be assisted by another former Linfield player, Chris Kingsberry.

"Michael and Chris are wished every success in their new coaching roles with Linfield Rangers."
