Linfield closing in on loan deal for Rangers teenager Chris McKee

Linfield are closing in on Northern Ireland U21 and Rangers B striker Chris McKee and hope to conclude a loan deal for the teenager inside the next 24 hours.

McKee has been persistently linked with a short term move to the Blues who are keen to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.

And it is understood a loan deal is imminent for the 19-year-old who is likely to join the Irish League champions until the end of the season.

McKee, who joined Rangers from Linfield in 2018, played 14 games on loan at Brechin City in Scottish League Two last season.

He returned to Rangers in the summer and has featured for the club's B team in the Lowland League this season.

Linfield are on the lookout for new striking options having lost both Billy Chadwick and Matt Green in recent weeks.

Chadwick returned to parent club Hull City after suffering a knee injury in November while former Birmingham City striker Green parted company with the Blues last month.

Linfield lie top of the Danske Bank Premiership and face Larne in the final of the County Antrim Shield at Seaview on Tuesday night.
