Linfield captain Jamie Mulgrew signs new one-year contract with club

Linfield have announced that talismanic skipper Jamie Mulgrew has signed a new deal with the club.

The midfielder has agreed a one-year extension which will take him to the summer of 2022.

Mulgrew has enjoyed a glittering career at Windsor Park since joining th Blues from Glentoran in June 2005, winning countless trophies including eight league titles and six Irish Cups.

The contract news comes ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Crusaders at Seaview.

“I’m delighted to be able to advise our supporters that our inspirational club captain Jamie Mulgrew has agreed and signed a one year contract extension to take effect on the expiry of his existing contract at the end of this season," Linfield boss David Healy told the club's website.

"Jamie continues to act as a superb role model to everyone at the club and he is thoroughly deserving of this award of a further contract extension.

"He has won everything available to him in his 600 plus games at the club but his hunger to succeed remains as strong as ever.

"I’m hopeful that we will be in a position to announce further similar good news in the coming days.

"I know that this news of Jamie’s contract extension will go down well with our supporters with whom Jamie has always been a popular and highly esteemed player.

This news will be a timely boost to everyone at the club going into a huge game at Seaview tomorrow.”
