Linfield boss David Healy outlines transfer hopes for January

David Healy says Linfield have been busy working behind the scenes to add "a number" of new faces to his squad in January.

The Blues have already confirmed defender Ethan Boyle and midfielder Kyle McClean on pre-contract agreements.

Healy says he hopes to have other names confirmed ahead of his side's Irish Cup fifth round tie with Queen's University on January 4 .

"Hopefully we have about three or four new signings for the Queen's game," he said.

"We have two signings coming in already, and we want to bring in numerous other players.

"We are always looking to improve the squad, like every other manager. And I am certainly no different."

Healy has predicted a busy transfer window because of the tight nature of this season's Premiership title race.

Just five points currently separate the top five, from Linfield in first to Glentoran in fifth.

"I think the transfer window will be busy throughout the league," Healy added.

"There are four or five teams up there fighting at the top, and that's not discounting Larne who are also there.

"But there are probably four or five teams down to Glentoran who will feel they could challenge, if they can improve their squad with one or two players.

"It is always about getting the right player to improve your squad.

"Sometimes it is a catch 22 situation, especially in January. Who do you bring in? And where do you get them from?

"We have had numerous conversations and seen countless players since the last transfer window to have a good idea on who we might want to bring in."
