Linfield 3 Qarabag 2: Healy hails Blues win as one of the 'great Windsor Park nights'

David Healy hailed Linfield's Europa League playoff win over Qarabag as one of the "great Windsor Park nights".

A brilliant brace from Shayne Lavery and a trademark Mark Stafford header saw the Blues earn a .

Qarabag dominated the early proceedings and led through Faycal Rherras's cool finish in the 15th minute.

Stafford levelled in the 40th minute and Lavery headed home in first half injury time to give the hosts a surprise lead at the break.

Lavery scored a brilliant solo effort in the second half to send Linfield into a 3-1 lead, only for Qarabag to earn a crucial lifeline in injury time when they were awarded a penalty after Romero was fouled inside the box by Matthew Clarke.

Substitute Magaye Gueye stepped up to coolly slot home to make it 3-2.

Healy enjoyed many stellar nights at Windsor as a player for Northern Ireland, notably scoring the goals that helped record famous wins over England and Spain.

And he admits tonight's Europa League win with Linfield was another highlight in his career.

"It is right up there for me as a great Windsor memory, like the wins Northern Ireland had over England and Spain," Healy beamed.

"I have left Windsor Park on many a night feeling on top of the world, but the players have astounded me tonight.

"I have left here proud as punch before, feeling on top of the world, getting a result against a big nation.

"But seeing the level of performance from the players tonight was incredible.

"They didn't surprise me, because I know they are capable. But they kept going and going tonight and got what we wanted out of the game.

"To win a game against Qarabag is incredible.

He added: "I am pleased, to say the least.

"You're 1-0 down after 12-13 minutes against a team like Qarabag and you fear the worst.

"We were being overloaded in every area of pitch. We rode our luck two or three times tonight but we were discplined.

"There were times in the first half when Shayne and Bastien (Hery) went chasing the ball when they didn't need to.

"Huge credit to the players tonight. The way they withstood the pressure and bounced back. The appetite, energy and goals.

"And we have something to play for next week in Baku."
