Linebacker Shaquem Griffin to undergo further testing of knee injury

Although the Seattle Seahawks were able to finish their final game of the preseason against the Oakland Raiders with a win and no new injuries, one player who left early remains a question mark.

Linebacker Shaquem Griffin played mostly on special teams play Thursday night and departed with an injury. Griffin, who also was injured in Seattle’s preseason opener, will undergo further testing on his knee.

“I don’t know that yet, but it has persisted some, so we’ll see,” coach Pete Carroll said when asked whether Griffin’s injury could sideline him long-term. “I think we’ll get him checked out again, an MRI on it again, just to make sure we know what’s going on. It has been a little different injury than a normal knee injury.

“He got hit on it, and we thought bruised early on, but it just hasn’t gotten well fast enough for us.”

Griffin had just resumed practice on Wednesday after sitting out since the Denver matchup. With roster cuts down to 53 players looming, Seattle is playing it safe with Griffin for now.
