Line-up announced for Bristol Foodies Festival on The Downs

A touring food and drink festival billed as the biggest in the UK is set to return to Bristol in May.

Dubbed ‘Gastro-Glasto’ due to it combination of great food and drink as well as live music, the Foodies Festival will feature a host of stars cooking live on stage including TV presenter Kate Humble and singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Award-winning chefs and celebrities taking part at The Downs include Great British Menu 2021 finalist Hywel Griffith and MasterChef 2020 champion Thomas Frake. The music line-up also includes Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe from boy band Blue.

A legion of chefs from award-winning restaurants will give the festival a distinctive local flavour, including restaurateurs and chefs Dan Bowden from 3 AA Rosette awarded Berwick Lodge in Henbury and Mark McCabe, from Michelin Green Star awarded restaurant, The Ethicurean in Wrington.

Also showing off their signature dishes in the Chefs Theatre, will be MasterChef champion Dhruv Baker, MasterChef: The Professionals contestant Philli Armitage-Mattin and healthy living life coach and author James Wythe.

Features for 2022’s festival include live theatre demonstrations featuring celebrity and Michelin chefs, star bakers and highly acclaimed local restaurants.

The Friday night of the three-day event will include a nostalgia-filled trip back to the 90s featuring some of the biggest music acts of the era including Five, Liberty X and Rozalla.

Another new feature this year is the Cook Book Shop with celebrity signings and top chefs showcasing their latest cookbooks.

World chilli-eating champion Shahina Waseem will also join the Foodies festival tour and challenge those brave enough to compete. Competitions will be broadcast live across the world to huge ‘League of Fire’ audiences.

The festival takes place on The Downs from May 20-22 and tickets are on sale now.

Early Bird Adult Day tickets are currently £19 (instead of £25 on the door) and weekend tickets are £38 (or £47 on the door). Children aged 12 and under go free when accompanied by an adult.

Entry to all theatres is included in the ticket price.
