Line of Duty viewers have expressed confusion with one of the plot developments in the latest episode surrounding DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure).

Episode five of the hit BBC police drama ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, as Fleming was engaged in a deadly stand-off with crooked PC Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper).
At the start of episode six, it was revealed that Fleming had shot Piper twice, and escaped from the scene of the shooting unscathed, alongside Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald).
Fleming and Davidson then attempt to evade the law in a car owned by Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), only to be quickly caught.
However, fans were confused as to why Fleming left the crime scene in the first place, given that the shooting was committed in self-defence, and Pilkington was already suspected of having ties to the organised crime group (OCG).
“I don’t understand,” wrote one Twitter user. “Pilkington was going to Murder Kate, Kate was authorised to carry a firearm for protection, Davidson was a witness to it all. Pilkington was dead, it was self defence. Why did they run off. Just call it in. What have I missed?”
“Still don’t understand why Kate left the scene after shooting Ryan?” wrote another.
One viewer wrote: “Does anyone understand why Kate ran? I’m just not getting it, makes no sense.”
