Confused but pleasantly surprised Line of Duty viewers are ecstatic at finding out that Sunday's episode was NOT the last one in the series.
The high octane and thoroughly gripped BBC drama has been drawing in massive audiences since 2012 and anticipation was high for its return, with series 6 starting last month after a two year hiatus.
The current run, which was initially bemoaned by some viewers for its 'slow' and jargon-filled first episode, has given us some absolutely massive bombshell moments including, most notably the reveal of mysterious new DCI Jo Davidson's blood relative and episode 5's shoot out cliffhanger, which had fans worried for Kate Fleming's life.
Some viewers wrongly believed that the gripping conclusion to last Sunday's Line of Duty was setting things up nicely for the final episode this week, when in fact the new series ends next weekend on Sunday, May 2.
With just hours to go until Sunday, April 25's sixth episode, fans were tweeting about looking forward to the 'last' part, with one tweeting: "Hoping all you Line of Duty fans enjoy the last episode tonight," but, correcting them, another responded: "reminder that tonight’s episode is not the last! the series 6 finale airs next week!"
Another mistaken fan was concerned they couldn't take any more drama, reacting: "Thought it was the last of the series tonight for #LineOfDuty but turns out there are 7 episodes in season 6! I’m not sure my heart can take another week of this..."
There will be seven episodes in the sixth series of Line of Duty making it the longest ever and millions breathed a huge sigh of relief in the opening minutes of Sunday night's when *SPOILER ALERT* after waiting a week to find out who survived, it was Ryan Pilkington who was confirmed dead, not Kate.
