Line of Duty stars reach out to thank health workers during Coronavirus pandemic

Despite the fact that filming for Line of Duty 's long awaited sixth season was halted due to Coronavirus fears last month, it seems very clear that the actors of the show have been keeping in contact outside of their acting jobs.

In a message recorded over Skype yesterday evening, leading actors Martin Compston, who plays Steve Arnott, and Vicky McClure, who plays Kate Fleming, recorded a message to send out a thank you on behalf of the Line of Duty team to those in the health service working during this crisis.

In the minute long recording, Compston says: "We just want to say a massive thank you to all our NHS staff. Having lived and worked throughout the world, I can say without hesitation you're the very best of us and I hope you know how appreciated you are."

MccClure adds: "To all the frontline staff and everybody who's going out there risking their lives, we want to say a massive thank you and reiterate the messages that are already out there. We know you know the message loud and clear - stay at home and wash your hands - but it doesn't hurt to remind."

Adrian Dunbar, who played Lieutenant Hastings on the show, does not feature in the video, with Martin Compston joking that the gaffer "doesn't know how to work Skype."

The show's mysterious antagonist 'H' also appears as a stock avatar in the corner of the video.

The clip is then followed by a hilarious outtake, posted on Martin Compston's Twitter feed, where both he and McClure try to work the split screen and recording settings.

Last month, producers for BBC's Line of Duty announced that they'll be suspending filming for Season 6, due to coronavirus precautions.

A statement on the TV show's Twitter page reads: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, World Productions are suspending filming of Line of DutyS6 with the support of the BBC. We will keep you updated with further developments in due course. Thank you."

Line of Duty currently does not have an airing date for its sixth season yet, but it was expected that the BBC's flagship cop drama was going to be broadcast some time in 2020.
