Line of Duty stars have seats reserved in Belfast bar ahead of reopening

Two of Line of Duty's leading characters have been made a permanent feature in a popular Belfast bar ahead of their reopening later this week.

The Duke of York has immortalised stars of the show DI Steve Arnott and DI Kate Fleming by reserving an area at the bar, especially for AC-12.

But it seems the gaffer aka Superintendent Ted Hastings played by Fermanagh native Adrian Dunbar has been left out.

Showcasing the gold signs on Twitter ahead of their reopening on Thursday, May 27, the bar tweeted: "Ready for reopening Thursday, seats reserved for @martin_compston @Vicky_McClure @doybelfast sorry Adrian #LineofDutyFinale #lineofduty #Belfast."

Scenes featuring both Kate and Steve were filmed in the popular Cathedral Quarter bar for series six of the hit BBC crime drama.

Delighted with the permanent tribute, Vicky McClure who plays DI Kate Fleming retweeted the photo with a smiling crying face and beer emoji adding, "cheers @doybelfast."

During the pandemic, the Duke of York and its sister pub The Harp Bar remained closed as fears mounted if they would ever reopen their doors again when restrictions lifted.

But fans of the hotspot got good news last week when they announced on social media that they will return to regular service on Thursday, May 27.

They posted: "It’s with great pleasure that we can confirm we will reopen The Duke of York & The Harp Bar next Thursday, 27th May.

"In the first few weeks, as we find our feet again, we will be opening Thursday to Sunday from 1-7pm.

"Slowly but surely, we will build back towards regular opening hours, alongside the return of live music, which is so central to the experiences we offer.

"We can’t wait to see you again - the reunion will have been worth the wait".

Line of Duty has also dominated the recent longlist for this year's National TV Awards (NTAS), with the series nominated five times within the drama categories.

The show’s stars – Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure – are all in contention for best drama performance.

In the same category are Brenda Blethyn for Vera, Helen George for Call The Midwife, Olly Alexander for It’s A Sin and Gillian Anderson for The Crown.
