Line Of Duty star says tonight's episode is set to be 'one of the best' and a classic

Getting plot details and information about any new Line Of Duty episode is tougher than an AC-12 interrogation, but the most recent update from Martin Compston (Steve Arnott) is definitely very interesting.

Over the last three episodes, Kate, Steve and Ted have been caught up in the mystery surrounding the murder of journalist Gail Vella and it's clear that Acting Detective Superintendent Joanne Davidson is certainly a person of interest.

Aside from this, there's also the elusive 'H' puzzle that needs to be solved and Ryan Pilkington's scheming tactics to contend with.

However, in a post on social media, Compston has told fans to expect an absolutely classic episode of the beloved police drama.

"Tomorrow’s the big one, episode 4! On paper, it's one of the best Jed Mercurio has ever written. If we deliver what was there, it has the potential to be a classic. Like to give a shout out to the young team Shalom and Gregory Piper who give outstanding performances in the midst of the madness."

This comment by the Scottish actor mirrors similar remarks that he previously made during a live Q&A with the Line of Duty cast and writers.

At the time, Compston said: “For this year, I think we’ve filmed [episodes] one and two, and as a cast, we’ve got [the scripts for] three and four, and Jed is writing five and six and we haven’t seen them, and there’s a bombshell at the end of four and I’m desperate to find out what happens."

Elsewhere, during a previous press conference that the Irish Mirror attended, the show's executive producer Simon Heath said that Season 6 does include a moment that could potentially 'break the Internet'.

Could it be tonight's episode? We'll have to wait and see!

In terms of an official synopsis of the episode, the BBC website states: "DCI Jo Davidson faces increasing pressure from all sides as AC-12 make major breakthroughs in the investigation, but an attempt to interview a key witness goes horribly wrong."

With the new season of Reeling In The Years starting at 20.30 on RTE1 and Line Of duty airing immediately after that show ends at 9pm, TV fans are in for a treat this Sunday.

Line Of Duty continues at 9pm on BBC1.
