Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar recalls car being blown up in Jerusalem terror attack

Adrian Dunbar has recalled a near miss during a terrifying attack in Jerusalem.

The Line of Duty star, who recently returned to our screens as Superintendent Ted Hastings, told that his and his family's hire car had been targeted in the city because it was its US origin.

He explained: "I remember once I was in Jerusalem with the family and we parked at the Nablus Gate and we walked into the city and we heard a bomb go off and we looked into the sky and I just knew it was our car.

"I said to Anna who was with the kids, 'I'm just going to look at something'. I went and I knew from where the direction was and we were driving an American budget car and they had identified the car as an American car."

Adrian added that they were lucky they'd left nothing valuable or important in the car.

"I just dealt with it like, 'Oh someone has blown up our car'," he remarked.

Appearing on the How To Fail podcast, Adrian told of his time as a teenager playing in bands in Northern Ireland, and how dangerous life on the road could be.

"When I played in the bands in Northern Ireland and you were travelling late at night it was very dangerous," he said.

"I was in three or four accidents, mostly because people were tired at the wheel.

"But you did see scary things that un-nerved you or you just missed things. When you are late teens there is an air of excitement about all that.

"There is an excitement about living through a time when you have to grasp as much as you can because it may be taken from you.

He's currently starring in Line of Duty's sixth series (BBC One/PA)

"You felt so much alive but I don't think I have anything like PTSD which would come after an incident or a death."

Meanwhile, Adrian's Line of Duty fame has seen him land a gig as a guest host in an upcoming episode of Have I Got News For You.

His show debut will air on April 16, where he'll appear alongside Katherine Ryan, Tim Shipman, and regular panellists Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.

*Line of Duty's sixth series returns at 9pm on Sunday 11 April.
