Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar reveals his holiday trick to avoid getting recognised

Adrian Dunbar goes on holiday to German-only hotels to avoid being recognised by UK based Line of Duty fans. His character, Superintendent Ted Hastings, is so beloved he often gets people coming up to him on the street but tries to escape for some peace and quiet.

The Co Fermanagh actor said he recently tried this when travelling to Majorca but was still spotted by fans from the UK. Speaking on the Out To Lunch podcast, the 63-year-old said: “I count myself lucky that most of the people I know like the character of Ted Hastings, love the series so therefore when I’m approached by the public it’s usually with a big smile and ‘Oh my god it’s you, can we have a photograph?’ and so forth.

“I got recognised a couple of times, a really lovely woman from Paisley in Scotland and actually another couple from
Edinburgh.”

Dunbar said when he and Line of Duty cast members Martin Compson and Vicky McClure meet up, fans go even wilder. He said: “We went into a bar in Belfast, we looked in and I thought great we’ll all come in because it was empty except for two guys in the corner. [It filled up in] half an hour.”

Meanwhile, Martin Compston has teased fans about a possible return of the hit series. It came after BBC chiefs shared a montage of clips from the popular series, featuring the famous trio.

The caption alongside the montage read: "Mother of God, I love these lot SO MUCH. Ten years ago today, the Dream Team was formed.

"Watch Line of Duty on iPlayer now."

Martin reposted the video and teased a potential return of the show with a leading and cryptic message. The actor wrote: "Ten years and counting . . . "

Fans were sent into hysteria and flocked to the comments of the video, demanding a new series. One wrote: "Please stop teasing and give us the damn show already." Another posted: "We want them back."

A third commented: "Here's hoping this is the prelude to some sort of announcement today."
