Line of Duty 'set to resume filming next month'

Filming for the BBC's flagship police drama Line of Duty is set to resume as early as August, according to new reports.

Entertainment news site Deadline said that Line of Duty's producers, World Productions, have "penciled in the week commencing August 24 as a potential restart date".

This could mean that filming will once again take place on locations throughout Belfast.

Filming for Line of Duty season six had been delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Back in March, producers for the show announced that they'd be suspending filming for Season 6.

A statement on the TV show's Twitter page reads: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, World Productions are suspending filming of Line of DutyS6 with the support of the BBC. We will keep you updated with further developments in due course. Thank you."

The hit drama has since been given the green light to return to work following the Coronavirus pandemic but Jed said the crew won’t restart production until safety concerns are addressed.

“Nobody knows how this is going to unfold and we’ve just got to make sure everybody’s safe,” Jed recently told The Andrew Marr Show.

“I want to get back as soon as we can, but that’s got to be when it’s safe.”

The latest development comes as other productions get set to resume filming and production work in Northern Ireland.

Last week, we reported that Hollywood movie 'The Northman' will resume production in Northern Ireland this summer and commence filming in August, as Coronavirus restrictions ease across the country.

The film, which stars a-listers such as Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and brothers Alexander and Bill Skarsgard, is a 10th Century revenge drama set in Iceland.

The story centres around a Nordic Prince on a mission to avenge his father’s death.

It was reported that director, Robert Eggers, had moved to Northern Ireland to prepare for the movie.
