The explosive trailer for Line of Duty series six has been released.
Jed Mercurio’s crime drama returns to our screens on Sunday 21 March, with the anti-corruption team at AC-12 being joined by a new officer, played by Shalom Brune-Franklin, as they tackle a new case.
In the trailer, AC-12 are seen to be investigating the high-profile unsolved murder of a young journalist. The investigation is led by DCI Joanne Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald) whose suspicious conduct attracts the attention of the team.
As AC-12’s investigation uncovers deeper and darker information, the department must figure whether she could be their most dangerous adversary yet.
“A whole line of enquiry has been deliberately suppressed to protect organised crime,” DI Arnott (Martin Compston) is heard saying, while AC-12 are warned about Davidson: “You have no idea what she’s capable of.”
There’s also anger towards a new official in charge of the police force, who tells the press that there is no corruption taking place, only for Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) to be shown calling him a “barefaced liar, promoted to our highest office”.

Along the way, there’s also the gun fights, car chases, people being framed and allegations of wrongdoing we’ve come to expect from Line of Duty.

Alongside Macdonald and Brune Franklin, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Andi Osho and Perry Fitzpatrick are also joining the cast of Line of Duty series six.
The new series will be the longest ever at seven episodes, with new episodes airing weekly.
Line of Duty begins on Sunday 21 March at 9pm on BBC One.
