Line of Duty series 5 will end in a movie-length finale as 'closely-guarded secrets are revealed'

The most talked about series on TV is set to come to a close in a nail-biting 90 minute finale.

Line of Duty fans will be treated to a film-length series end where ‘closely guarded secrets are revealed’ - that likely to be the identity of the mysterious crime boss ‘H’.

Viewers have been gripped by the high octane fifth outing, which follows anti-corruption unit AC-12 try and uncover the identity of the gang member, who is a high up police officer.

This will be the longest episode of any Jed Mercurio-created series - others, including BBC drama Bodyguard, have enjoyed an extended finale, but none have been longer than 75 minutes.

The BBC press office tweeted: “In a nail-biting 90-minute finale, closely guarded secrets are revealed.”

Viewing figures for the first three episodes of Line of Duty range between 7.3million and 8m - and it is likely that a big finale will beat those numbers.

In most recent scenes, Steve Arnott (Martin Compson) attempted to bring in rogue undercover officer John Corbett (Stephen Graham) - but he was met with the business end of his gun before he absconded.

Newly promoted Kate Fleming still has her suspicions about her gaffer Ted Hastings being the gang leader, despite DCS Les Hargreaves recently being unmasked as a bent cop colluding with dangerous masked men.

Line Of Duty will continue on Sunday on BBC One, with the finale airing on May 5.
