Line of Duty series 5 finale date confirmed as BBC drama set for extended episode

Line of Duty fans will be treated to an extended episode when the finale airs in two week’s time, with the BBC confirming the episode length and air date.

The BBC One drama has left viewers gripped since its return for series five, as the identity of the mystery ‘H’ remains up in the air.

With AC-12 still trying to work out who the bent copper is, following the murder of one of their own in the series opener, fans are sharing their own theories.

But the latest plot is set to reach a dramatic end in episode six, in what has been described as a “nail-biting” finale.

The channel has confirmed that the finale will air on Sunday 5th May.

Not only that, but it will be on for 30 minutes extra than a standard episode, instead lasting 90 minutes.

There hasn’t been a confirmed time slot yet, while it normally begins on the channel at 9pm.

One the BBC website, they revealed: “In a nail-biting 90-minute finale, closely guarded secrets are revealed.”

So will the truth about ‘H’ finally be exposed and what other secrets may come to light?

No details about the episode have been confirmed, with just three more episodes to air for this series.

Viewers will have to stay tuned before the finale to find out where things go, but if the past finales are anything to go by it will no doubt be worth the wait.

The series has aired extended finales in the past too, and the confirmation that yet again viewers will be getting extra scenes has left them pretty excited.

One fan tweeted: “Yay can’t wait even though I don’t want this series to end,” as another said: “OMG SO EXCITED.”

Line of Duty airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
