Vicky McLure is switching channels to join forces with Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio on new ITV drama Trigger Point.
Weeks on from Jed defending the much complained about final episode of Line of Duty, he has been confirmed as executive producer of the new series and Vicky is joining him to play the lead role.
Trigger Point, is billed as a high-octane six-part thriller series which focuses on the officers who risk their lives daily on ‘the long walk’ towards danger. For them, death is always just a heartbeat away.
Vicky, best known to millions of BBC viewers as AC-12's own Kate Fleming will play front line officer Lana Washington, who is an experienced bomb disposal operative, known as an ‘Expo’.
Joining Vicky, who has been at the centre of Masked Dancer speculation, in the Trigger Point cast is Life and Trauma actor Adrian Lester in the role of Joel Nutkins, who works alongside her, with the two having served together in Afghanistan.
A plot teaser for Trigger Point reads: "When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, the Expos are at the forefront of urgent efforts to find out who is behind the bombings before fatalities escalate."
Commenting on Adrian's casting, Jed Mercurio, who will executive produce alongside Jimmy Mulville, Mark Redhead and Jessica Sharkey said: “I’m absolutely thrilled Adrian Lester has joined the cast of Trigger Point.
"Adrian is one of the finest actors working in British television today and will make a formidable combination with Vicky McClure.”
News of Vicky's new ITV role comes after her Liner of Duty co-star Adrian Dunbar was confirmed as lead actor for new drama Ridley.
Other actors confirmed for Trigger Point includes Mark Stanley (Honour) as DI Thom Youngblood, Warren Brown ( Luther) as Karl Maguire and After Life's Kerry Godliman as Sonya Reeves.
They are joined in the cast by Cal MacAninch (Des) as Lee Robins, Manjinder Virk ( Midsomer Murders ) as Samira Desai and Ralph Ineson (The Capture) as Commander Bregman.
